Special thanks to Opponaut Hooker for helping me out.
2005 Toyota Corolla LE. I’ll do a full write up and description later but I’m exited about it as it’s the first car I have bought myself instead of being handed down.

Is that a 2005?
Sold these when new. Great cars to own. Easy to wrench on, easy to maintain, cheap to operate. What’s not to love?

My wife has a 2006 S type. Great car. Absolutely bullet proof with great mpg. Congrats.

Nice car but I’m disappointed it is not a VW Thing.

I’m sure it’s in the negatives, but there’s a difference between the jalopmeter score and good real-world decisions, haha.

ok, well that sucks for you then doesn’t it.

Whilst not an incredibly fun car to drive (we have a previous gen with a manual), you definitely made the “good” and “sensible” choice. These things are bulletproof.

I like the thin rimmed steering wheel and wood combo. Nice buy.
Id suggest Altis wheels if you ever got that in the US.

Niiiiiiiiice, solid score sir!
Any plans for it?

Great car. Congrats

It’s what I need right now. I’m in college and am commuting 50 miles per day to school and work and need something that will work be cheap to run and repair. I also didn’t want to have to be working on it constantly as I already have a lot on my plate.

Thanks, I like the three spoke wheel a lot. Those wheels are sweet, I have the steelies with hubcaps right now.

At least the wood will last for millions of years.

Jalop score: 139
So uh:
101-150 points: Is that an E39 M5 in your pocket? Or do you have an erection?

And that makes it Jalop as fuck.

Thank you so much, I know I’m going to get hate for this car but I bought it for a specific purpose and I think it’s the right tool for the job.

That’d why we got our ‘Rolla. The rest of our cars were German, so we needed a solid back-up plan.

agreed

It is a 2005. I love how easy it is to work on! I already did an oil change, a transmission drain and fill, cabin air filter, air filter and cleaned the MAF sensor and it has been incredibly easy and straightforward compared to the other cars I have worked on. I’ll be doing coolant this weekend. Its been fantastic so far.

Congrats! It is a nice car, not the fastest or sportier but a pretty solid one. My first car was also a Corolla, but a hatchback (euro model) although they share the same interior. I see yours is already missing one of the pieces of the center console, wich is pretty common since those are very delicate. Same happened to mine. Enjoy!

Thanks! I have the piece it’s in the glovebox but I think some of the plastic broke off because it won’t stay in properly.

Love the hatch by the way, unfortunately they don’t sell those here.

Well, you are Captain of the Beige Wonder so they should know what to expect.

That picture and wheels make it look a lot like an Avalon.

Doubtful, unless Toyota really upped their fake wood game. My sister had a 2001 Camry a few years back while I was driving a ‘97 Sebring, both with fake wood. Mine looked brand new (ignoring the broken cupholder), hers was faded and yellow and you could barely tell it was supposed to look like wood at one point. I’ve never seen trim so badly faded before or since, and we don’t live in the north east, not the south west.

Congrats again! Happy to help!
![]() 02/02/2016 at 15:50 |

I think the piece won’t work once it has become separated from the center console, in fact I was told yo would need to replace the entire center console if you want to fix that piece.
Yeah, the hatch is great. My current car is the mean version, the T-Sport

Another member of the Corolla Club! Good job. We have a mutual friend with an ‘07 that had fake wood trim in it. I had no idea before you could get fake wood in a Corolla.

I remember the wood surprised me when I saw it in the Corolla

I always liked this generation of Corolla better than the subsequent generations.
